I had a feeling!

I was trying to get accountability by being at Jordan Public school. It was an ISP.... It didn't work. The way Savvy needs to learn (I finding most kids learn the same way). Is not conducive to the public arena. I truly found out what they teach and how they teach. They teach random thought in non-sequential order. The text books didn't follow chronological order, at all. Math was several subjects and varying concepts on any given page. The reading Books where chopped up published books with many miss quotations. 


Savvy, learns Global and tactaly . The material needs to be sound and have integrity. She, learns by repeating information but not in the same context.  Her comprehension is is at it's best when it makes sense in s orderly manner and fun. The information needs to be small bites and varied environments.


The first part of the year when I was teaching from the books I purchased we learned oh so much.... We were using Charlotte Mason style.... Reading real books dictation, copy work, reading History in order. Science was nature study. Lessons were short and learning was a joy.  Then about November I was told to use only text books.... Not cool but we did. Savvy fought tooth and nail. The joy of learning was dashed.


 Our teacher had a car accident and was unable to be available for us. Thats when I found out the true difference in the styles....I did not teach their stuff very well because it is not logical and incomplete. My daughter called out to me to teach mommy's way. 


I did! I took her advice and went our own way. We covered so much and in depth. I had Savvy reading history so her reading counted twice.(LOL) The spelling words came from the books we were reading. We chucked the math book and the teacher told us to do fourth grade math.... No way! how was that going to help.
( It didn't the teacher, never copied off the pages for us.) (LOL) I went back to what we were doing in the first place Math-u-see.  And she is doing her math with total comprehension. 

As this was playing out, I had a friend of great knowledge and background in Special Education take me to lunch to push Special Education.... we set goals and I sent out to complete them. 

Along with that, we were in a bind for money.  I thought I would enroll her at the school she was at ...a school of excellence... They refused to have her .... They totally feel she is a special needs child.....
So they would have to do a battery of test and place her in a special needs room.....(LOL) way to funny, She is getting one on one at home, from one who loves her and has the same learning style. After all that then they said she couldn't go to their school. Because we are a transfer family and we would not be allowed in their school.


A bit later, my very dear friend who is a former teacher, calls me. She was checking to see if my course is sound... She was concerned, too. She, after having a long conversation came to the same conclusion.... File!


So now I have since spoken to my husband in great length and my parents, three pastors and my care group and my three homeschool friends for accountability. They all know that is is the only course of action I can take.


It fact my church has been praying for clarity for the past year.....




I now, believe it is time to file independent. A Private School Status:  Savvy has named our school "Peace like a River....."


Lord, not our will but thine be done on earth as it is in heaven. Deliver us from evil and protect our integrity and teach me your ways Oh Lord, so Sonny and I, can Raise her your way not anyone else's....
